#WeekendCoffeeShare 2023 Layoffs and Goals

Thanks Yinglan for sharing this challenge! You can join the challenge with Natalie, here.

I learned that we are getting laid off at work. I am getting moved but our department is dissolved.

I don’t know what to say honestly. I am supposed to be meeting with HR this week but I’m not sure how I feel about it.

My goal for 2023

To increase my business. I want to increase my followers and sales. I want to have consistent views and sales.

I was supposed to

  1. Figure out expertise
  2. Sell and bulid PDFs and courses
  3. Increase blog readers and sales (still there and will be there probably always)
  4. Build membership platform
  5. Be known as a community expert
  6. Research speaker gigs

For #6, I have actually done work here which is awesome! I learned that local libraries offer speaking opportunities. I also learned that many Facebook groups have a need for this as well.

It is cool seeing so many of the goals I thought would take a long time to achieve, be done so quickly.

This month, I will increase my sales by continuing to post on my podcast, be involved in Facebook groups, capitalize on Pinterest and more!

What are your goals for this year?

  1. Great goals!

Layoffs are so hard. Losing a job or quilt about no losing it when your friends do. And the post layoff morale is never good – expected to do more work due to less resources. Good luck!

  2. Good luck with all your goals. Sorry about your layoff. Remember the old saying about when one door closes another one opens. I’m sure you’ll find something even better – or at least new and different. You’re starting the year off right!

  3. I am so sorry about the layoffs. I remembered when I got laid off it was so tough because it was sudden. I saw my contract rep at the table with my box of things telling me I was let go. Though I did not like the job, the feeling did suck. In regards to your goals, of “being a community expert” I suggest participate in Twitter chats in your industry. It’s a great way to promote too!
